Twisted Eguchi-Kawai Reduced Chiral Models

We study the twisted Eguchi-Kawai (TEK) reduction procedure for large N unitary matrix lattice models. In particular, we consider the case of twodimensional principal chiral models, and use numerical Monte Carlo (MC) simulations to check the conjectured equivalence of TEK reduced model and standard lattice model in the large-N limit. The MC results are compared with the large-N limit of lattice...

Phase structure of twisted Eguchi-Kawai model

We study the phase structure of the four-dimensional twisted Eguchi-Kawai model using numerical simulations. This model is an effective tool for studying SU(N) gauge theory in the large-N limit and provides a nonperturbative formulation of the gauge theory on noncommutative spaces. Recently it was found that its ZN symmetry, which is crucial for the validity of this model, can break spontaneous...

Noncommutative Principal Chiral Models

Twisted Eguchi-Kawai reduced chiral models are shown to be formally equivalent to a U(1) noncommutative parent theory. To make contact with the continuum noncommutative theory, a double scaling large N limit for the reduced model is required. We show a possible limiting procedure, which we propose to investigate numerically. We also include some preliminary numerical results.

Non-commutative Principal Chiral Model

Twisted Eguchi-Kawai reduced chiral models are shown to be formally equivalent a U(1) non-commutative parent theory. The non-commutative theory describes the vacuum dynamics of the non-commutative charged tachyonic field of a brane system. To make contact with the continuum non-commutative theory, a double scaling large N limit for the reduced model is required. We show a possible limiting proc...

The twisted arc model for chiral molecules

We present a simple model for chiral molecules which yields the frequency-dependent multipole-multipole polarizabilities required for calculating the dispersive van der Waals constants in a simple, closed, and consistent form. The model consists of a single effective charge confined to a one-dimensional wire formed by two circular arcs, which are twisted with respect to each other by an angle c...
